From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am a Canadian Citizen who has been scammed by a man in Abidjan. I came to your country to give Magistate Pale my account of how the scammer, scammed $156,000 Canadian dollors from me. The scammer that I met in Magistrates Pales chambers only offered to pay me $12,000 dollars back. Now that I have left your country and come back to Canada, I can't get this Magistrate to answer my questions. They have the scammer in jail but will not tell me how much money is in the scammers bank accounts. Justice is not being served and I spent considerable money and time to be there, which was demanded of me in order to have justice done. CAN YOU HELP ME? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:3D09:6187:D700:17:5079:6A54:2569 (talk) 21:50, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation of name

[edit]

I can see the French pronunciation given, since Cote d'Ivoire being a former French colony. But why was the Arabic transcription and pronunciation given? There's no mention of any Arabic connection in the article, so I removed it. Also, perhaps the native pronunciation should be added, if known. Jalwikip (talk) 09:57, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Ivorian pronunciation of his family name is with a flapped "r", not the French guttural "r". -- /wa ta 'ra/. This is a very common Mandinka last name in the North of the country (as well as in Mali) and has no direct connection to Arabs or Arabic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.49.48.217 (talk) 22:11, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Religion

[edit]

"Ouattara married his wife, Dominique Nouvian Folloroux, who is French Jewish, in a 1990" AND "Alassane is a given name or surname that is an alternative transliteration of Al-Hassan"

Therefore, what is his religion? Is Ouattara a Jew or a Muslim?

Onesclaimhjdjdhgj (talk) 23:12, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I added a reference for his religion, which was then deleted on 15:27, 25 April 2011 by Mzeewangu. Why? Obiara (talk) 17:17, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sarkozy

[edit]

There is an editing war going on here about whether he was really married by Sarkozy or not. Obiara (talk) 17:17, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Structure

[edit]

The structure of the Ivorian crisis parts is abysmal. It is not remotely objective and the writing style is...weird. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:F470:12:5:5197:9BA1:CED9:D75D (talk) 20:19, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article is littered with anti-Ouattara sentiments, especially in the "2010 presidential election and aftermath" section. The article needs to be re-written because the author of several sections of this article is anti-Ouattara, a supporter of xenophobic "Ivorité", and at times hints at being pro-Gbagbo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.217.162.73 (talk) 00:11, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2010 presidential election and aftermath, rewriting

[edit]

The current section is mostly unchanged from its change by an IP about 5 years ago (edit [1] and [2]), where it was directly lifted from Ivory_Coast#2010_election and Ivory_Coast#2011_Civil_War - including a plaintext copying of the reference links(!). As a direct improvement I've copied the source of the two sections (that also includes 5 years of edits on the Ivory Coast page), however I think it would be better to write something specifically tailored towards this article; currently it feels a little bloated and is too general for a biographical article. Should it be cut down to be more concise and include only parts directly relevant to Alassane Ouattara? RDXL (talk) 13:10, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
