I started to re-work the page on the ALDO Groupe page. Its hard to find a lot of information so I will do more work on this page at a later date. If anyone has ideas on how to sound less like an advertisement then those ideas should be added to teh talk page. MJM 04:11, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am going to do major work on this page as soon as i can re-set my password —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.7.131.65 (talk) 04:43, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well-written but the citations need to be redone. Some of them are from the company website, which means they're not going to be completely unbiased, some of the links are dead, and also they're mentioned in the main text of the article (for example, "according to Strauss (2010)", which is not necessary on Wikipedia thanks to the hyperlinks, and can actually be a bad thing when it gets distracting. Also there is a reference that is mentioned twice, where the second version should just be replaced with "ibid." Basically the whole of the citations need a lot of work.

ALDO GroupeNewName – Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. Gjobin (talk) 19:04, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Copyrighted text

[edit]

Most of this article has been copied almost verbatim from the Aldo website. I have removed a section which was copied from here [1] There would be very little left of the article if I removed it all though?Theroadislong (talk) 14:52, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

All of the content that was being updated came from a credible source: www.aldogroup.com. Since this is a private company, it is difficult to get accurate information from any other place. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bakhrany (talkcontribs) 18:59, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Being difficult to get information is not a justification for using a private company's self-promoting website as a source. It can promote itself on its own website, not here. Besides, Aldo is a high profile company in Canada - there must be information provided by reliable sources. And the text must always be neutral. Ground Zero | t 19:07, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article name

[edit]

There is no evidence that "Aldo" is an acronym -- it is the founder's first name, after all, so by Wikipedia's naming policy, the article should be moved to "Aldo Group". The company may wish to draw attention to its name by using all capital letters, but Wikipedia should not. See WP:TRADEMARK. Ground Zero | t 19:07, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Africa

[edit]

Aldo have a surprisingly large number of stores in Africa - is this worth some commentary? It seems unusual for a chain of this sie to expand so rapidly there. Smurfmeister (talk) 10:50, 23 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

True - they are even in Botswana — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.1.192.176 (talk) 19:16, 1 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal September 17, 2024

[edit]

Merge Call It Spring into this article, it's basically a small sub-brand of Aldo, and its history is already covered more thoroughly in this article. 70.163.220.139 (talk) 00:21, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
