Notability tag

[edit]

I have removed the baffling notability tag added by User:Clearfrienda, clearly without understanding the article history, including the deletion review at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2023 November 18 and the AFC review by User:Iwaqarhashmi. It is baffling that an article approved via the AfC process, which includes an independent examination of notability, would be so tagged; any editor who disagrees should take this to AfD immediately, drive-by tags lacking WP:BEFORE are of no value. @BD2412: Why do you believe the subject is notable? He doesn't meet GNG or ANYBIO — the only thing I could see is WP:NPROF criteria #1 but that's weak at best. I did, actually, do a WP:BEFORE review and I reviewed both the deletion review and the prior AfD. No need to make assumptions. In my opinion, I don't think article should've been accepted out of AfC (especially considering the stricter criteria). I was considering nominating this for deletion but the potential "significant impact in their scholarly discipline" made me hesitant, which is why I tagged it and left it for another reviewer. @Clearfrienda: The subject has published more than thirty articles with 100+ citations, with nearly 15,000 total citations. That is far above "significant impact in their scholarly discipline" (WP:AUTHOR criteria #1, "regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers), even without the GEBN article, publication of a reviewed book for popular consumption, and various other mainstream media references.
