A news item involving Alistair Urquhart was featured on Wikipedia's Main Page in the In the news section on 11 October 2016.
A fact from Alistair Urquhart appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 2 April 2010 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
The photo of the supposed "bridge on the river Kwai" on this page about Alistair Urquhart is improperly attributed/captioned. It suggests that the bridge in the photo, taken in 2007, is the infamous bridge Urquhart helped build (and Alec Guinness in the movie). It is not. It is another, modern bridge of steel and concrete built on the same site. Urquhart's bridge was build of wood and bamboo and was utterly destroyed by the British army during WWII. An important distinction, for a number of reasons, and likely to cause confusion and disseminate mis-information unless correctly attributed. Photographer/poster? Thanks!
