Pronouns

[edit]

I notice that the official Andrea Gibson website's bio (http://www.andreagibson.org/bio/) uses she/her pronouns, and so I am wondering why this page uses they pronouns. Is there some other source stating that Gibson prefers they pronouns? Thanks! Andreac (talk) 22:14, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I found this link for the pronoun choice in the edit history. Putting it here in case others come by and wonder! http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/2d60ih/i_am_andrea_gibson_a_queer_touring_poet_with/cjmevgj Andreac (talk) 22:18, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The "they" pronouns on this page are distracting and grammatically wrong. They is plural. It doesn't make a big of difference what pronoun she prefers. An encyclopedia should use correct grammar. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.155.66.11 (talk) 20:25, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

See MOS:GID and the page on singular they. Distraction is a subjective assessment, and SAE grammar allows for the use of singular they. Avoid using pronouns that are not preferred; see MOS:GID and MOS:IDINFO. MichaelsoftBinbows (talk) 05:20, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
