We're not even sure if this category is going to be around in a few days. I would feel more comfortable waiting until the CfD is settled before adding her to this category pbp19:31, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with JPL - the guidance here is clear - you cannot remove someone from a category under discussion. Re added. Stop warring please. If the cat is deleted, the problem will take care of itself. If the cat remains, she should remain in it. Ipso facto. --Obi-Wan Kenobi (talk) 21:16, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hehe. But seriously, what is it you are opposed to - the women novelists cat, or the fact that she's not in the american novelists cat (rather, she's in a non-gendered by-century sub-cat). Do both bug you equally, or is one worse than the other? What do you think is the ideal categorization? Also please please come take my Wikipedia_talk:Categorization/Ethnicity,_gender,_religion_and_sexuality#Correct_categorization_quiz, I want to see how well you do. :) I note also that the vast majority of commenters at the CfD are supporting the continued existence of the women novelists category. --Obi-Wan Kenobi (talk) 22:17, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I took your insane quiz, and it was a very good thought exercise. For this article, however, my motivations for my edits were much simpler. I recently came across a story she wrote in an old copy of The Atlantic Weekly, researched her, and wrote the article. Few people have ever cared to write about her since her death, but there was enough to support an article. Some nearly lost knowledge is brought back to ready modern grasp. I just wanted Anne to be left alone until the category war was over.--Milowent • hasspoken03:36, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. However, if you look now, would you possibly agree that her categorization has improved? JPL and I added a number of relevant/useful cats I think, and I don't think she's ghettoized by any of them. Thanks by the way for continuing to create content - I'm not that good at that, I could certainly learn from you...--Obi-Wan Kenobi (talk) 03:46, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Categorizing people as "women novelists" is not "besmirching" them. Since I have also been attacked as sexist for opposing women categories, and people have strongly argued that unless such categories exist we are marginalizing women, the whole thing is beyond locical. Anyway we have Category:Italian women novelists, Category:American men novelists but not Category:Italian men novelits. The whole notion that such categories "besmirching" people is not supported by the fact that many people feel they need to exist, to avoid ignoring the many contributions to literature done by women.John Pack Lambert (talk) 21:37, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Or maybe she moved to Italy because she was a Roman Catholic and at the time "educated" people in the United States looked down on Roman Catholics.John Pack Lambert (talk) 21:38, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I'm a student at LSU in women's gender studies and I am wanting to add some information about Anne Hampton Brewster. We are adding to her bibliography and background information about her life and her studies.

Hannahmariemar, by all means please do so! Remember to cite to sources for your additions, ideally secondary sources and not original research. I started this article in 2013 because I randomly ran across her and Julia Schayer in reading old magazine short stories, and thought they were notable authors.--Milowent • hasspoken15:41, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
