Principal exhibitions

[edit]

I undid the recent revision by Ohconfucius which removed the principal exhibitions section. Semionov's exhibitions are an important part of his work and should be kept. I do think, however, that including all the other artists that participated in these exhibitions is overkill and takes up too much space. Maybe we could point users to another online source about these exhibitions instead? That way we could just list the exhibitions themselves and avoid the extra details. Even better would be to add some commentary on why each particular exhibition was noteworthy. GypsyJiver (drop me a line) 06:22, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Either simplify to 1 artist or get rid of it...Modernist (talk) 11:37, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I shortened it to just the exhibition titles - how's that? GypsyJiver (drop me a line) 13:36, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • The mentions as they are of exhibitions are highly problematic; little has changed since the laundry list of his shared exhibitions have been severely pruned back on the grounds that these are "an important part of his work". By leaving mention of the exhibition and removing all the other names misleadingly implies that he was the principal artist exhibiting. The truth is that they are not "his principal exhibitions" by any stretch of imagination, thus seriously violates WP:NPOV. Its not just a commentary that is lacking: his three personal exhibitions are already mentioned in the article, but even for these, there is no reliable source to attest to the importance of same. Under these circumstances, I would maintain that there is no place in the article for the section according to proper interpretation of WP policies and guidelines. --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 14:03, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, I definitely agree with you about the lack of sources, although I still feel that it adds to the article to have the list of exhibitions. Maybe we could clarify that he was not the principal artist in these and change the heading to "Exhibitions featuring Semionov's work"? Having said that, I won't revert your edit if you choose to delete it again. GypsyJiver (drop me a line) 14:56, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This list is too generic and does not specifically pertain to only this particular artist, it's essentially spam...Modernist (talk) 15:31, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
