Merge proposal

Space art and Astronomical art would appear to be the same thing; there's no good reason for duplicate articles. RandomCritic 21:09, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]


I would suggest that greater diversity be identified rather than creating a larger grouping. Space Artist, Astronomical Artist and artists working directly with space technology using conceptual, interactive robotics and other new media techniques do not fall within an "Astronomical Art" catagory. Some artists, working with space as a theme or using microgravity as an environmental contributing factor in their processes, do NOT illustrate or paint astronomical or space science achievments but are creating unique arts and space flight collaborations direct with scientists. I would not support seeing both merged as there are many artists who now work with space flight technology, as space artists, who would not consider themselves as creating 'Astronomical Art'
