Deleted stuff
[edit]I deleted the line about ascent by scouts and leaders, since it is (a) specific to scouts and access from the Scout Ranch, and (b) more like travel info than encyclopedic info.
I also deleted the line about the origin of the name, since (a) any mountain that high in NM is bald on top (above treeline), (b) I doubt the term "strip-mine" is correct, and (c) there's no source. -- Spireguy 05:05, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
We were told that it was "bald" because of the hydroponic mining techniques used in the 1900's. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.161.158.50 (talk) 18:00, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
Proposed move
[edit]I propose to move this to Baldy Mountain (New Mexico), since that is the official name. Comments? -- Spireguy 22:44, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds good. I request a move. The Pelican 23:25, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- Nevermind. Baldy Mountain (New Mexico) is a disambiguation for the three Baldy Mountains in New Mexico. The Pelican 23:36, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Sorry---I did the move and then created the disambig page a while back. -- Spireguy 19:59, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
baldy chalange
[edit]i added the part about the chalange of baldy. having climbed the mountain (and others in Philmont) i believe it is the most chalanging part of the philmont expirance
- Thanks for your desire to contribute to Wikipedia. Unfortunately your contribution was unsourced (and poorly spelled), so I removed it. If you can give a reliable source for such a statement, please do so. -- Spireguy 03:00, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Donation
[edit]I need some sources, but Baldy was given to the Philmont Scout Ranch in the 1960's. Before that, it had a small mining town at the base of it.
Prominence
[edit]Does anyone know the prominence of Baldy?Mazeau (talk) 16:36, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- I just added it in. Not sure why I didn't do that a long time ago. Thanks for asking. -- Spireguy (talk) 01:54, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Merge with Location and geography section of Philmont Scout Ranch
[edit]I propose moving this article into the Location and geography section of Philmont Scout Ranch. Just an FYI for people that watch this page and not the PSR taskforce page. ZybthRanger (talk) (contribs) 15:18, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- Merge tag needed on articles involved. Vsmith (talk) 16:02, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- I think that you mean the Philmont Scout Ranch page, not the PSR taskforce page. BTW I've been somewhat active editing the main PSR page for 10 months and didn't even know that the PSR taskforce page existed. There is no indication of it in the articles; I would consider anything written there to be sort of hidden. I commented at the PSR page. North8000 (talk) 15:25, 25 February 2012 (UTC)
