Instead of just the total population number. Would it be possible to also add individual numbers for Tuangku, Bangkura and Bago islands? We can keep the total. But in addition it would be good to see a breakdown on these three major islands. - Pernambuco 15:07, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I used many sources and only one source gave a population, and that was of the total. I will have a look but I am not optimistic about finding it. - Erebus555 15:30, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Bupati of Singkil district told me there are about 10000 people in the whole archipelago. Basically it break like this (my personal count from various sources. Note: I've been living there for 6 month)
-Balai and Baguk: 3000 (I think underestimated)
-Teluk Nibung: from 700 to 1000
-Suka Makmur: from 300 to 500
-Ujung Sialid: 1000 (Including me)
-Haloban 2000
sources: Sumatraecotourism and info from local people.
I don't think there are other significant population, but except for Ujung Sialid, those figures are very vague. --Madlozoz (talk) 04:37, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bago Island?

[edit]

Where is this so important "Bago Island"? ( see map )

If it is the english name of Baguk, then it is insignificant in mass and is, as far as I know, only a suburb of Balai. Yet the two tiny island put together is the economic and demographic center of the archiupelago. --Madlozoz (talk) 04:26, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Working on updated statistics and geographic information

[edit]

I am currently working to update this page. There is useful information on population, geography, and more available from the Indonesian government and recent academic publications that can replace anecdotal accounts. Geog Q (talk) 19:22, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
