Daughters

This article said (of the two sisters of the last Baron):

Neither has petitioned to terminate the abeyance; if they fail to do so by 2042 or they both die the title will almost certainly enter permanent abeyance as none of their daughters will meet the criteria to make a valid claim.

What is this supposed to mean? If a co-heiress of an abeyant title has several daughters, her share of the abeyant title is divided among them; but this just means more potential claimants to the tontine that is an abeyance.
