The names used for this battle are completely confusing - The Oxford Illustrated History of the Royal Navy from 1995 uses "Les Espagnols sur Mer", and that's probably about as modern and authoritative as one can get for this. Eggenberger's Encyclopedia of Battles uses "Battle of Winchelsea". Google's few matches are somewhat inconclusive. There are probably still some red links wandering around for even more alternate titlings... Stan 02:39, 17 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistent numbers for size of the Castilian fleet

The lead says 47, the Background says 47 on the way out, but mentions that some English ships were then captured, which might have added to the total returning, and the Infobox says 40. Jmchutchinson (talk) 15:20, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

'smashed'

The term smashed is not a very encyclopaedic one, it would be better to rephrase the sentence to explain it was a strong victory rather than use such a term. A King in my own mind (talk) 04:12, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
