[edit]I would question the statement that "Little Children" was "allegedly about getting his girlfriend's brothers and sisters out of the way so they could make love". Firstly, it was not written by Billy J. Kramer. Secondly, the lyrics are clear. The singer wants to "kiss" the little children's sister. Anything more than that is not suggested. In the 21th century that could be presumed, but not in 1964 without a hint or a double entendre.JohnC (talk) 07:50, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Trains and Boats and Planes
[edit]"Kramer's cover of "Trains and Boats and Planes" saw off Anita Harris' cover version only to find itself in direct competition with Dionne Warwick's version, which won the day."
1. Anita Harris's version released on PYE failed to reach the top 50 in the UK, and according to wikipedia PYE didn't release records in the US under their own name. According to her discography on wikipedia, the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles, and Panther Books' Rock File 4: Chart Log of American/British Top 20 Hits 1955-74, no single of this title was released by Dionne Warwick in the UK or the US. Unless anyone can prove otherwise, I intend to edit this statement to:
Kramer's cover of Bacharach and David's "Trains and Boats and Planes" saw off Anita Harris' version, reaching a respectable number 12, but this was the group's swansong, as all subsequent cuts missed the chart.[2] Robocon1 (talk) 16:03, 24 September 2013 (UTC) Apologies, Trains & Boats & Planes was released by Dionne Warwick, but only in the US.Robocon1 (talk) 20:39, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- So: The sentence as it stands conflates UK and US chart results.
Billy J. Kramer's version reached 12 in the UK charts, 47 in the US: http://www.musicvf.com/Billy+J.+Kramer+%2526+the+Dakotas.art Anita Harris' version didn't get into the top 50 in Britain (not listed in Guinness British Hit Singles) and wasn't released in the US. Dionne Warwick's version reached 22 in the US and wasn't released in the UK: http://www.musicvf.com/Dionne+Warwick.art
Unless anyone has any objections, I intend to replace it with:
Kramer's cover of Bacharach and David's "Trains and Boats and Planes" saw off Anita Harris' version in the UK, reaching a respectable number 12, but was trounced by Dionne Warwick's version in the US, and turned out to be the group's swansong, as all subsequent cuts failed to chart.[2]
