one star vehicle

[edit]

It is important in certain cases to understand the marketing ideas of the producers and the company. Some movies are deliberately promoted with “one star above the title”. Bullock broke the record with Blind Side as there was no other movie with single female lead that earned that much money. That information itself works as some sort of box office help, and I wouldn’t go into psychology behind that more than I’ve already said. If we are having an article about such movie, in the main paragraph we should mention those featured on the poster. Not doing it in a way is kinda working against distributor, and we certainly have no interest in doing that. —BoleynSRB (talk) 12:25, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Critical reception

[edit]

I removed the "Critical reception" section in its entirety as seen here due to a number of serious problems:

  • The first sentence is completely unsupported by the citation.
  • The second sentence uses one review's criticism (also badly formatted) to indicate a general sentiment.
  • The third sentence is completely unsourced.
  • Rotten Tomatoes shows 56% so far and Metacritic shows 57 out of 100 so far, so the second paragraph in its entirety comes off as effusive and promotional in the kind of quotes it samples. It sounds like something the studio would advertise. When we sample reviews, we sample the critic's perspective and why, rather than simply repeating praise over and over.

Tagging those who have edited this article: BoleynSRB, TheMovieGuy, Vmars22, Dhruvh, Somethingwickedly. This should only be reintroduced as a complete rewrite. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 17:26, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Olympia" vs. "Olivia" Comment

[edit]

There has been some back and forth editing to the character's name "Olympia" vs "Olivia. I have added a reference, it's Olympia. Ifnord (talk) 18:14, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Viral Sensation"

[edit]

The language "sensation" should be removed; not befitting an encyclopedia. Also, outlets like The Daily Dot are reporting that the memes may be astroturfing on the part of Netflix: [2]. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.6.68.14 (talk) 20:55, 30 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 9 January 2019

[edit]

In the last part of the Production section, please ADD Santa Cruz as a filming location. In summer 2018, key scenes were re-shot at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park in Santa Cruz Sources: https://www.santacruz.org/blog/article/979/bird-box-nestles-in-henry-cowell-redwoods-state-park, https://www.atlasofwonders.com/2018/12/bird-box-filming-location.html Thanks! [A Quiet Place]

[edit]

Should we not mention the movie A Quiet Place, which came out prior to this movie, and is this exact movie just with sound as the enemy instead of vision? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 51.6.151.38 (talk) 01:13, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You've got it backwards. "Bird Box" novel was written in 2014, Scott Beck and Bryan Woods didn't start writing "A Quiet Place" until 2016. Not saying they did but maybe Scott and Woods had read Bird Box and that gave them the idea for Quiet Place. 79.64.241.226 (talk) 14:10, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There was also a movie called The Silence (2019 film) which its novel was published in 2015! Aminabzz (talk) 10:18, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Box office

[edit]

Please add box office of the movie. Aminabzz (talk) 14:13, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
