RfC: Premier Dance School status
[edit]I would like to request a second opinion by other editors regarding the Premier Dance School status that is contested on the article. I can't seem to find a valid source for this, the editor User:Bruno Russell has linked the school itself as a source, but I feel that violates WP:VERIFY as it does not represent a NPOV. Until this is either confirmed or denied with community consensus, I appeal that the content is retained as unsourced with citation needed. + Crashdoom Talk 13:15, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
- Remove. I found this source on the school's website, but I don't think this is a use permitted by our policy on using primary sources. That policy says "A primary source may only be used on Wikipedia to make straightforward, descriptive statements of facts that can be verified by any educated person with access to the source but without further, specialized knowledge." I don't mean to accuse anyone of dishonesty, and I personally think that the claim is probably true, but without any independent verification we have no way of judging whether the claim was simply made up or not. If we had an independent source to back the claim up, from either the awarding body or a newspaper etc., then I think it would be worthwhile including it. Until we have this verification, the claim should be removed. I'll be happy to answer any questions that anyone might have about my opinion here. — Mr. Stradivarius (have a chat) 09:09, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
- Remove until better sources are found - I think Stradivarius' interpretation of WP:PRIMARY is correct. If we were to quote the school on a statement it made, that would be considered a primary source. But the school did not award itself "specialist school status". A primary source for that would be the awarding institution. At best, what we could say is that the school claims it was awarded that status. That's how you would use WP:PRIMARY in this case. The material should be removed per WP:BURDEN until better sources and consensus can be found. 159.1.15.34 (talk) 17:34, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
- Removed as per consensus I have removed the content in accordance with the editorial consensus on this page. + Crashdoom Talk 14:05, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
