Disambiguator is not supported by sources

The way the disambiguator "(criminal)" is used as a label is not supported by any of the cited sources. Many disambiguators use a person's occupation, because that is what they are usually most notable for. However, in this case, the term "criminal" is not the person's occupation and I cannot find any sources that describe this person as a "criminal". In a disambiguated article title the disambiguation term should give the reader some clues about the subject's notability. The term "criminal" does not, because it is imprecise and does not explain what sort of "criminal" this person is. Wikipedia should not be applying a label to the title of an article without it being supported by sources, otherwise the label could be perceived as a form of editorial opinion. How this term was arrived at is not explained, neither in the article nor by the sources, so I must presume it was a personal opinion of an editor, or the result of original research.

So what do the sources say? Sources, including reportedly the victim herself, describe this person as a "rapist". Legal sources also note he is a "juvenile offender" who has been given numerous consecutive adult sentences that amounted to more than his expected natural life, which is another reason for his notability. This latter term seems somewhat verbose, while "rapist" is more concise than "criminal". - Cameron Dewe (talk) 07:09, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
