Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedy deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, because... (your reason here) --Mit Wobet (talk) 21:35, 14 August 2012 (UTC) all the content of this article is coming directly from the article's subject (Brin-Jonathan Butler) himself. He is the author of the bio on the Bleacher report article as well. I am happy to revise the article so that it meets Wiki standards, but to be honest I thought this revision would have taken care of that.[reply]

Please Advise.

If you take a look at the duplication detector report, there's plenty of overlap. Additionally, close paraphrasing isn't permitted, either.

And finally, the content of the article should not be coming from the subject of the article; instead, it should be coming from verifiable and reliable independent third party sources with significant coverage. And if those don't exist, the subject doesn't qualify for an article, anyhow. DoriTalkContribs 21:57, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed photo replacement

[edit]

Please change the photograph from Brin-Jonathan_Butler_2015.jpg to Brin-jonathan_butler_cuba.jpg

I would like to ask for assistance regarding this article. As I know there are guidelines relating to conflicts of interest, I want to disclose that I am proposing a change as the subject of this article. I presume this is a change that another editor will have to make once and if consensus on the change is reached. If you have specific concerns, please let me know on my talk page.

Not done First, the photo is likely not your own work as indicated, since this type of ownership is usually concerned with who took the photo and not who is in it. Second, it is overall a lower qualify photograph that...comes off looking more like a glamour shot for a pop album than a photograph in an encyclopedia. Proposed photo replacement, part two

[edit]

Please change the photograph from Brin-Jonathan_Butler_2015.jpg to Brin-jonathan_butler_cuba.jpg - Thanks for looking into this. I have update the photo with attribution and the original source from the author. It was actually taken by my brother who has provided permission for its use. I'm not sure how to document this aspect of it as it was provided in an email. I have made a reference in the photograph talk page about the details of the photo. I'm not sure how to re-open this request so I am going to re-propose it with the new information, apologies if this goes against protocol. Brinjonathanbutler (talk) 21:05, 7 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not done The situation is clearer now, indubitably; but we now know this is indeed a portrait shot for publicity and still not in the style for our encyclopedia. In addition, the copyright appears to ultimately belong to © 2017 Macmillan Macmillan Publishers (United States), since you have linked to their website in your source for our consideration. It is murky to me how your brother can give away the rights of this large publishing company. He took the portrait, it seems, for use by the publishing company and indeed it is on their website. Even if he and you intended to re-use it elsewhere, please clear this up with Macmillan. Truly understanding your desire to have a different image in your infobox, I wish you all the best. I am closing this as answered but not done. To reiterate: there were two problems, quality of portrait style, inferior to current image and what to do about: © 2017 Macmillan. Perhaps they should be the next email contact for you. Thanks Fylbecatulous talk 13:57, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
