I request opinions on renaming the page from 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Maharashtra to "2019-20 coronavirus pandemic in Maharashtra". Reasons: 1. Consistent with other articles under Wikiproject COVID-19, 2. Hard to navigate to under the current title and 3. technically incorrect since the pandemic began in 2019 and is still active. I want your opinions User:DiplomatTesterMan, User:Titodutta, User:Mayankj429, User:AyanabhaBanerjee. DishitaBhowmik 13:04, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The main Indian article for this - 2020 coronavirus pandemic in India... just uses 2020.... DTM (talk) 13:07, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@DiplomatTesterMan: But other pages such as 2019-20 coronavirus outbreak in the United States, Timeline of the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic in March 2020, 2019-20 coronavirus pandemic in Italy, etc follow this convention. DishitaBhowmik 13:12, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, what i was trying to say by the comment above is that what you are suggesting here will result in a change on all Indian COVID19 related pages. Lets see what others say. DTM (talk) 13:14, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Dishita Bhowmik, you could actually suggest this renaming over at Talk:2020 coronavirus pandemic in India. Try suggesting changing all of the Indian COVID19 pages titles. The talk page has many more active editors involved with this and you will get a wider opinion apart from us four here. Just a suggestion. DTM (talk) 13:30, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I support it being the 2019-20 pandemic instead of just a 2020 one. >>BEANS X2t 15:06, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Do not change this article title 2020 Coronavirus pandemic in Maharashtra to 2019-20 Coronavirus pandemic in Maharashtra because. Covid-19 arrived at month of February in India so why anyi want to include 2019 in the title. India or Maharashtra was affected by Covid-19 till Feb. Kundan Ravindra Dhayade (talk) 10:59, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think the title should be left as such, per User:Kundan Ravindra Dhayade's argument. COVID-19 was not reported in Maharashtra, or even in India in 2019, so I do not see why we should prefix 2019 to the title. --Netha (talk) 13:20, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge of 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Pune into 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Maharashtra

2020 coronavirus pandemic in Pune should be merged into this article as city-wise article is too much at present situation. Capankajsmilyo(Talk | Infobox assistance) 19:01, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge. Actually there is nothing to merge as the Pune article has been copied from this one. M4DU7 (talk) 03:13, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Do not merge. Maharashtra is a large state with two covid19 hotspots being the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Pune district. The Maharashtra article does not have any information on the evolution of the epidemic in each region separately. There was a table in the Maharashtra article that showed the evolution of the cases and deaths in each district, but that has been removed as it became too big and unmanageable. Now, in the Pune article, one can clearly see the trends of the outbreak specifically in Pune. The topic of coronavirus in Pune can itself be considered notable as there are news articles on it. There are articles for other cities as well, such as New York and London. Further, Pune has a comparable number of cases and population to some Indian states like Punjab and West Bangal that have their own articles. The Discoverer (talk) 07:51, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • merge we do not have many editors. This separate article would mean global>national>state>city. We cant have that much when there already are inconsistencies in the article of India, and MH. Having another article is too much. The lost content can be covered in "timeline" article. —usernamekiran (talk) 22:08, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge I don't think it won't be worthy to have a separate article regarding the coronavirus pandemic in a city. It should better be merged with 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Maharashtra. Abishe (talk) 18:11, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge This can be easily covered here, no need for having an separate article for a city. - Mayankj429 (talk) 09:54, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge --. Shlok talk . 14:33, 15 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Do not merge : (1) If one needs to make decisions regarding when to alter policies regarding the lockdown, observing the growth rate of case count for the specific geographical region becomes essential. This is the only website where I find case count for the Pune metropolitan area. Even though the timeframe does not exhibit the exponential growth so far, it is essential to track case count/recovery rate/death rate just to know when certain policies can be relaxed and to what degree. The data on this page offers all users the necessary information to be able to observe the trend and for policy makers to make such decisions. (2) There are some comments which discuss inconsistencies between the content of this article and the corresponding Maharashtra article (since different individuals may end up editing one article but not the other resulting in inconsistencies). I find that a valid concern but not sufficient enough to justify merging the two articles. Personally, I would recommend there being a page to track case count for every geographic region in the country at every hierarchy (city, taluk, district, state, country) - simply because this offers the only accurate way for the population in that region to get a picture of situation in their city. (3) In addition, if anyone has data (case count/age/gender/recovery rate etc) for different parts of the city - perhaps similar to the containment zones as has been implemented by the police and described in various news articles (I see one in TOI dated April 15th), it would be even more relevant since such information cannot go into the article which provides details for the state (Maharashtra). I should add that there are multiple sources of the data being provided and it is sometimes hard to see which ones are original sources versus which are copies/references to other sources. Yet, even though there is lack of consistency between multiple data sources, I believe it is useful to keep a separate article for the city. (4) While a large part of this article is simply redundant, the article can be made more relevant by centering its focus on the city level statistics and actions by those who have accurate information. Statistics like age/gender/source of infection (out of city ie travel/contact within city)/which part of the city is the individual affected residing in/hospitals which are treating - and anything relevant would definitely help. Most of the sections as of right now, discuss state level details - like the section on government response and prohibitions talk about Maharashtra as a whole. Instead, they need to focus on Pune city government bodies like PMC, PCMC, local level corporators, police bodies (Pune Police). Lab testing information needs to be specific to Pune city - ie where is testing within the city being performed. A map (perhaps overlaid on Google maps) would be handy since it is far easier for an individual to see a map and determine the location of a lab than it is to read an address. Which hospitals within the city are treating individuals who have this viral infection. What is the timeline of the policies implemented by the various local government bodies and how have they changed over a period of time ? What social distancing policies are being put into practice by the citizens - are people maintaining six feet distance between each other, are they complying with wearing protective equipment like masks and gloves when performing essential transactions etc. Things like these are far more relevant to the city article but would be completely irrelevant at the state level (5) Also, the addition of a logarithmic scale to the case count graphs would help in identifying the effectiveness of the lockdown and provide an insight into the success of the efforts being taken by everyone including citizens. In short - I believe the on the whole, the existence of a separate article for Pune is justified. It is just that it requires significantly more details which are city specific rather than State specific. 17:18, 16 April 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.131.92.189 (talk)

Do not merge Coronavirus outbreak in Pune into Coronavirus outbreak in Maharashtra.

[edit]

I think the Coronavirus outbreak in Pune have to different page and Coronavirus outbreak in Maharashtra have to be different page. It will make easier to readers to understand. Kundan Ravindra Dhayade (talk) 10:55, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Make redirecting article by different probable searching titles.

[edit]

This article is very important one. Many people searching this article on Google and wikipedia's search box by different titles so,we have to make redirecting pages like- Coronavirus outbreak in Maharashtra , Coronavirus pendemic in Maharashtra , Coronavirus in Maharashtra , Covid-19 in Maharashtra, Coronavirus epedmic in Maharashtra, 2020 Coronavirus epedmic in Maharashtra etc same goes for IND Coronavirus article. These Coronavirus article will remain on Wikipedia for upcoming thousands of years. It is like Study document. And it will help students after few years to upcoming decades in their acedmic studies. Kundan Ravindra Dhayade (talk) 11:06, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Escape of labors, factory workers and peoples hailing from villages working in cities and are gone, still walking by roads to their villages, hometowns needs separate section.

[edit]

Many small daily wage labours, factory worker faced this unemployment disaster due to lockdown.but there is no mention of that in this page.Escape of labors, factory workers and peoples hailing from villages working in cities and are gone, still walking by roads to their villages, hometowns needs separate section.please creat a sub section in impact section or make a separate section for this issue. Kundan Ravindra Dhayade (talk) 18:59, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I will add this information today. Thanks for the suggestion. M4DU7 (talk) 04:42, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Delete the photo from infobox.

[edit]

All countries in the world and different states of India have wikipedia articles about Covid-19 but no other these articles have pictures, photos in their infobox. So I suggest to delete that photo. And warned the man who edited this. The photo is not helpful and it is irrelevant. Kundan Ravindra Dhayade (talk) 08:20, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"The man who edited this" is the man who has created and written every single word on this article. A bit of civility goes a long way around here. M4DU7 (talk) 08:51, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree that it is irrelevant. It depicts a typically busy place under total lockdown due to the pandemic. Tamil Nadu article also has an image in the infobox, so you're wrong on that part too. M4DU7 (talk) 08:55, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Write different sub sections in Transport sub section about Truck transport , Aviation , Railways, Waterway transport.

[edit]

Write different sub sections in Transport sub section about Truck transport , Aviation , Railways, Waterway transport.

Transport sub section is little confusing and not easy to read and understand beacuse , Transport section have ST transport, Railways mixed together that's why it not pleasing to read. So I suggest if we write Different sub sections in Transport section like - Road Transport or Truck , Domestic flights, International flights, Waterways. It will make this article dynamic. And useful. And best Article about Covid-19 in India. Kundan Ravindra Dhayade (talk) 08:32, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

LEAD out of date

[edit]

It doesn't look good for the lead to be reporting April assessments. Can it be updated please? Mumbai & Maharashtra deserve more attention than this. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 13:56, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

COVID-19 pandemic in Pune

[edit]

The page COVID-19 pandemic in Pune has been redirected here without copying any of the contents. Thus, it has effectively been deleted without a deletion discussion. With nearly 47kB of content and 67 references, how could it be that there's nothing worth copying? The Discoverer (talk) 07:33, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@The Discoverer: Hello. There was a discussion right on this page. It is still visible. It was open for participation from 1 April to 31 May (thats two months). It is still there, under heading: "Proposed merge of 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Pune into 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Maharashtra". The discussion was also linked in this edit summary, that edit was reverted by you here. I undid your edit, and in that edit summary I said: Nothing appropriate to merge. If one wants to copy relevant content then kindly do. I say it again: if you believe there is something to be copied/merged, then kindly do it. Nobody is stopping you. —usernamekiran (talk) 10:36, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
usernamekiran, there was a consensus for merger, and not for deletion, and they are two different things. A consensus for merger cannot be used as a pretext to liquidate a page. The Discoverer (talk) 12:49, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@The Discoverer: yes. But there is nothing appropriate for merging. Whatever there is in the Pune article, it's already present in the MH article. The implementation of lockdown, and easing of it, were statewide decisions. Regarding the stats, it would not be logical to include a city's detailed stats in state's article, as the same stats and sources can be found for Mumbai, Nagpur, and Aurangabad as well. But if you want to include anything, please feel free. The only thing I can think of is to include/create a graph of stats including these four cities, like there is a currently chart "Semilog plot of the spread of SARS-CoV-2 and of COVID-19 recoveries & deaths in Maharashtra". But this chart would make the article more cumbersome, and it will be very complicated to maintain as well. Even the current charts/stats are being updated like twice a week. Even the lead of this article has been out of date for a very long time now. —usernamekiran (talk) 13:16, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Government website update

[edit]

Currently, the wikipedia article for CoV-19 pandemic in MH lists two websites as the source of data. One of these websites is a Maharashtra government website (arogya.maharashtra.gov.in), and the other is an ArcGIS (a geographical information system) which (I am guessing) appears to be updated by someone from the government on a periodic basis. For the last several days, the updates to this website have been sketchy. However, there is another government website, which also maps the information by district. In addition, it also provides the case count variation by time. The colour coded dashboard can be found here : https://www.covid19maharashtragov.in/mh-covid/dashboard. Can someone who is editing the wikipedia page, please add this link box on the top right hand corner of the page ? Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.131.249.48 (talk) 18:07, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
