Date confusion

[edit]

In Canute Lavard:

His feast day is celebrated on the day of his death, January 7.

In St. Knut's Day:

St. Knut's Day is a holiday celebrated in Sweden and Finland on January 13

This may both be true, but it certainly deserves a note in the article and if possible an explanation! I suggest discussion hereof (if any) takes place here: talk:St. Knut's Day#Date confusion.--Noe (talk) 09:32, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The saint day of Knud Lavard ["Knud Hertug"] is 7 January, see my edit on talk:St. Knut's Day#Date confusion It seems that the Swedes moved the day for their celebration for some reason. 80.163.68.22 (talk) 07:50, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion

[edit]

Someone should expand this article. There is some really good source here.--Queen Elizabeth II's Little Spy (talk) 17:02, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there, Cnut (Knud) Lavard was Duke, but not Duke of Schleswig, he was Prefect in Schleswig and Duke of Danmark. That's an old misunderstanding, which seems difficult, not to say impossible, to eradicate. The title Prefect means, that he might have had the command of a part of the army, the fleet. Will come back with source later today 27.06.2017. 93.165.9.53 (talk) 07:18, 27 June 2017 (UTC) The source is dr.phil. Thomas Riis in Historisk Tidsskrift nr 112, bind 1, København 2012; p. 283-284, in the article 'Korstog ved verdens yderste rand' which is the title of dissertation - the article is a review of the dissertation, and is printed on p.273-291. Dr. Riis has written about Knud Lavard before from the original documents (diplomas). 93.165.9.53 (talk) 09:06, 27 June 2017 (UTC) Jan E.[reply]
