Why the name?

[edit]

Is the reasoning behind why Chaojhou in Pingtung was named after Chaojhou in China because some of the early immigrants were from Chaojhou in China?

I am asking this because a few of us who are Taiwanese have heard that our family trees show an ancestor from Guangdong...yet they were not Hakka. So, if not Hakka, it must have been Chaojhou.

They are Teochew people. Not of Hokkien people or Hakka people, this is the main reason why they named it Chao Zhou .115.135.47.119 (talk) 01:24, 27 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
