Dips
Come on Y'all in Texas we dip our chicken fingers in gravy. Texas 92 (talk) 05:13, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Fingers?
Why are they called Chicken Fingers? Bufflo 04:11, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Perhaps because they look a little like a finger that's made out of chicken. There might be places where five of them is standard serving size. Jon 21:49, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Could be based on fish fingers. ----
[User:ericminch] I always tell people "Chickens do not actually have fingers, but they do have toes. Be sure which one of these you are eating."
Etymology
We need to nail down the origin of this term. I can't recall hearing this term before approximately the early 1980s. Badagnani 04:22, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Cream Gravy?
Are you sure? I have seen no such thing done to chicken fingers, or heard someone say they have ate with such a thing. Sitation or it stays off.Umishiru (talk) 16:49, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Chicken Fingers were first made and named by the owners/operators of Spanky's in Savannah, Ga. One of the original owners, Ansley Williams, continues to operate Spanky's today and it is known as the Home of the Original Chicken Finger. <ref>www.southmag.com/April-May-2016/The-Story-of-the-Chicken-Finger<ref> 2601:483:4A80:B20:45A:E939:A1F9:E25 (talk) 18:56, 22 September 2018 (UTC)

Chicken Tenders
I would like to postulate that chicken tenders including chilli tenders are a variant or different dish. Tenders are thicker and does not resemble a finger. In addition tenders are generally served as a main not a starter.
