What makes this illustrated novel notable is that it is heavily illustrated with a large number (over 80 illustrations) by well known artists from the 16th - 18th centuries throughout the book. Artistic contributors include Gustov Dore, Ingres, Lord Frederik Leighton, Lawrence Alms Tadema, Jean Leone Gerome, Frederick Goodell, Diego Velazquez, William Bouquereau, Arthur Hughes, Botticelli, John William Waterhouse & others.
Since it is already a full novel that is published and there is a role-playing product associated with it that has also been published, we feel that it has validity as something notable.
Also the novel is about known Gods and goddesses from our shared history, so it has value in terms of how authors are treating the myths and deities of our past in current fiction.
Further, more novels in this series are being created, which makes it more likely to be something with a growing fan base rather than a one-off story. It also has an active website and forum, indicating a commitment to the project as a whole and a fan interest.
Finally, the book authors M.Scott Verne & Wynn Mercere (these are pen names) have been creating published fiction for over 20 years, including comics, short stories, and game related books. They are currently making the rounds promoting their book at major conventions like San Diego Comic Con, WonderCon, GenCon, and DragonCon. (And smaller conventions like Phoenix Comic Con, LepreCon, and TrollCon.)
There was some concern that the authors do not have Wikipedia pages. Wynn Mercere has written several other novels since then and has a Wikipedia page. M.Scott Verne was a pen name for Steve Crompton who does have a Wikipedia page and it was recently made public (and posted on the City of the Gods and Steve Crompton Wiki pages) that he is in fact the author of these novels. He is notable.
