Split

[edit]

I am suggesting that the discography information be split off into a new page entitled Clay Walker discography; it seems long enough to warrant its own sub-page. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 15:55, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

The result of the proposal was move. JPG-GR (talk) 16:24, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clay Walker (musician)Clay Walker — I'm requesting a move for the same reason that I did so at Tracy Byrd (musician) and Doug Stone (singer). There are far more incoming links and reliable sources present for the singer than for the filmmaker, so I believe that the singer is more notable. I have reason to believe that most people searching for "Clay Walker" would be looking for the singer, so I suggest that his page be moved to Clay Walker, with a hatnote also pointing to the filmmaker. This would also reduce on the number of pages, as we would just have singer and filmmaker, instead of singer, filmmaker, and dab. — Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 19:03, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Survey

[edit]
Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's naming conventions.
  • Support With only two things there, hatnote is best though, there is the self styled album so whether it is more efficient to have a DAB or a hat note becomes more iffy. In my view as the album is a derivative of the musician, this move should still be preferred. Narson (talk) 22:07, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Clay Walker is a hugely popular singer. I don't even need to look to see what the ratios are. Self-named albums never conflict, they always get pushed to Artist (album). 199.125.109.18 (talk) 03:21, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review

Reviewer: HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 02:01, 2 April 2010 (UTC) I'll take this up for a fellow reviewer! I'll list my suggestions below:[reply]

  • The first thing I notice is the comma before "Jr.". This is frowned upon by MOS:BIO, though permitted if it's the most commonly used form in sources. Something to look at, if you haven't already
  • The lead is quite short for a comparatively long article
  • Do you need all of those subheadings? They make the contents table rather long- could you perhaps combine some of them rather than having almost one per year?
  • I'd suggest, but only suggest, that the "biography" section be renamed to something like "early life" to better reflect its contents
  • The prose gets a little choppy in places, especially the "personal life" section

I can't see any real issues with the body of the article, besides the prose and the slight zeal with section headings. The sources are all reliable and, unlike in similar articles, there's a nice variety in their breadth without being too dependent on one source (with the exception of the first, which is used 25 times!). If they're available, some more images would not go amiss- you can try asking Flickr users to release their work, it's surprising how willing many people are to release their work and it would certainly help the article.
