There is little to work with when trying to understand who or when something was invented. In this case the star arguement and arrangement seems to be credited to Cleostratus. This view held by Dr. Forthingham only really has weight because of the limited amount of material evidence and the constant problem of translations. This reoccuring theme in the Historical study of the Sciences, has both Greek and Latin translations which could conflict with the already small amount of source material. The fact that this figure Cleostratus is at least (almost) a contempary of Thales, means not only historical reverence but also has an idea of continuation of old and possibly unprovable myths of real men. Myths transcending history. see E.J. Webb.Boyd8420 (talk) 22:39, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey User:Boyd8420 I think you have some really great sources here with some great information and I do not think it will be to difficult to put it all together and make a good informative article. Good Luck!

There is not a great deal of information, but what is there is sort of interesting. Once I get some pics like Noah's and more explaninations it should come together better. The good thing is that the artilce will at least be in better shape than when I found it. Boyd8420 (talk) 14:23, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that the timeframes for inventions are difficult. I have had a lot of trouble on mine figuring out good dates for his sub designs. However, if the sources you do have right now have enough solid information, you should be good with quality over quantity. I know how you feel about being stuck with so little sources. I feel like if you can just expound on the existing article enough so that the main influence Cleostratus had is more clear, you will be alright. Nro87 (talk) 21:09, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

More to be added about the moon crater which bears Cleostratus name, simply because there is so little information on the man. Why is it necessary to credit the assimilation of the Zodiac from the east by means of Cleostratus?. Greek authority edit on the article. Someone needs to be credited for the emergence of the Greeks and their understanding of the Zodiac. Cleostraus is that person, Pliny is simply enforcing the stories not asking questions about the actual person or idea of a person.Boyd8420 (talk) 15:10, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Included picture of the Cleostratus crater from wikimedia. Larger size makes the picture and crater easier to view and also provides a more detailed layout for examining smaller craters surronding the Cleostratus, upper left hand corner. No real images of Cleostratus, except for a few Roman idealized images which were copyrighted in another country. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Boyd8420 (talkcontribs) 19:53, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
