The result was: promoted by 97198 (talk14:38, 29 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Created by John P. Sadowski (NIOSH) (talk). Self-nominated at 20:42, 10 April 2020 (UTC).[reply]

  • ☑Y Article is new enough (created and nominated on 10 April) and is long enough (4179 characters)
  • Question? The final section on World Health Organization is directly copied from the WHO website, which doesn't appear to have a free licence (it says copyright WHO, and no evidence of a licence compatible with Wikipedia). Also, as per Wikipedia:Medical disclaimer, Wikipedia isn't a source for medical advice. Therefore, I do not believe that paragraph should be in the article
  • Question? Another point is that in the coronavirus section, you only mention the US. the US isn't the only country with policies different to the WHO guidelines (for example [3] suggests lots of Asian countries mandate the use of facemasks). Only mentioning the US gives a US-centric view of the situation
  • Once these issues are addressed, I will complete the rest of the review. Joseph2302 (talk) 18:39, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Joseph2302: Good catch on the WHO text; it was added by someone else (and yet another person has already removed it). The article could certainly be improved with respect to worldwide view, but that's not part of the DYK criteria; it's more of a GA- or even FA-level issue. John P. Sadowski (NIOSH) (talk) 03:34, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • ☑Y Having re-read the DYK guidelines, I agree that having a slight focus towards the US in the coronavirus section isn't a reason to fail/hold up this DYK (as Globalise is not a dispute template, which are the only ones that stop a DYK from passing). Copyvio has been removed, and all fine of Earwig copyvio check now. So good to go
  • Note: article has been moved from Cloth facemask to Cloth face mask- so the link in the hook should be changed (if this page move is not disputed). Joseph2302 (talk) 11:36, 16 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • And for completeness of the review: ☑Y article is within policy, and QPQ has been completed
  • Overall, this nomination passes, congratulations. Joseph2302 (talk) 12:20, 20 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

New picture

Just a suggestion.--Schreibvieh (talk) 13:20, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Cloth face mask
That's a cool idea actually. However, we will need to provide more coverage of content relating to usage of cloth face masks popular since the 2020s. We could expand info using the content from Face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic under the Cloth Face Mask section. Unfortunately, as much as I wanted to expand content on the Cloth face mask article, I myself am unable to add COVID-19 material directly on mainspace without putting the info on my userspace first and then asking a trusted Wikipedian for approval. I feel that referencing will be very sensitive on articles closely related to COVID-19. Qwertyxp2000 (talk | contribs) 20:23, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As for factual accuracy of the image, 100% agree with this image as an example of an image representing cloth face masks popularized in the 2020s era. It looks similar to the ones I commonly see in public. Qwertyxp2000 (talk | contribs) 20:28, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ambiguous topic

[edit]

The current name of this article "Cloth face masks" is ambiguous. The content only addresses cloth masks used in disease control. There are several other uses for cloth masks (masking identity, protection from sun, etc.).

If this article is to be solely about the topic of cloth masks for disease control, that should be more clearly spelled out. 172.58.43.135 (talk) 20:48, 10 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

More Information

[edit]

Is there any new information regarding what countries specifically are recommending cloth masks? This could give more information than the statement that "multiple" countries are recommending them Angela.acm672 (talk) 23:31, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
