Coil → Coil (disambiguation) – Helix should be the primary redirecting topic for this page. All other significant entries are so-named because of their shape being a helix. WT79 (speak to me | editing patterns | what I been doing) 16:05, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

- @WT79: This was previously subject to a requested move and should definitely be discussed again before moving. – Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 16:20, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose The article helix barely mentions the term "coil". User:力 (power~enwiki, π, ν) 00:16, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose: the reader is not more likely to be seeking "helix" than electrical device, contraception, etc. No primary topic. PamD 05:56, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose per 力 it only appears once in an image. The band gets 7,325 views but Helix gets 8,919 so readers are clearly more likely to be looking for the band with this term. Google mainly returns Intrauterine device which gets 13,404[1] views. Crouch, Swale (talk) 09:19, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Crouch, Swale: Can't quite see the reasoning of that second sentence... is this a typo? WT79 (speak to | editing analysis | edit list) 08:48, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
- @WT79: I don't understand, I can't see a typo? The helix article doesn't appear to qualify as a broad-concept article and the band gets a reasonable number of views so I don't see a primary topic. Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:09, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
- Oh, I see the logic a bit now. It was the way you said 'more likely', I think you meant 'as likely' (slightly less). Sorry, WT79 (speak to | editing analysis | edit list) 14:11, 27 August 2021 (UTC)

- Oppose - electromagnetic coils take many geometric forms besides a helix. --ChetvornoTALK 15:44, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose per others' comments indicating a lack of clear primary status. Another plausible topic is Coil spring. — BarrelProof (talk) 17:28, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
- @BarrelProof: This was what I mainly had in mind with my original request. A coil spring is just a wire bent in a helical path. This means that our article coil spring describes the springy cushioning properties of such a shape, and the article helix describes just the shape. I don't think the article about the springy properties qualifies as a potential primary topic, just like History of England wouldn't be thought of as a potential primary topic for the title England.
