[edit]

This edit caught my eye. The edit appeared on my watchlist because I had earlier made minor edits to the article ([1]) where I had not paid much attention to article content. I'm presently a bit interested in the topic, so I looked at the article content beyond my specific editorial concern of the moment.

I have misgivings about the article format; it seems to be organized more as a chronological history of changes to Congressional pension than as a presentation of information about that topic. Currently, its two main sections are History of congressional pensions and Update from 2017 CRS Report. That second-mentioned section began in this January 2019 edit as an addition of information into the History of ... section, and has since been elevated to a major section. I think the article would be better if it were more focused on its topic rather than on the history of changes. The article is small enough at this point that refocusing it should not be a major task.

Right now, considering WP:DATED, I'm adding an {{as of}} template to the lead section. I think that the article would be better if it focused on information about its topic as of a stated currency date -- probably with information about how it came to be that way presented as explanatory footnotes. I will likely, as I have time, revisit this article and make edits towards that end. If you have comments or disagreements, please comment below before I get started on that or (better) come to an editorial consensus on this and make the changes with little or no involvement by me. I've made some tweaks which I think improve the article. These are pretty minor. Please edit as needed to improve further. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 12:48, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
