Disambiguation page?

[edit]

This really looks like a disambiguation page to me. Perhaps it should be tagged as such. WhatamIdoing (talk) 03:08, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. 78.86.61.94 (talk) 00:28, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Primary meaning

[edit]

It seems odd for this page not to mention the primary meaning of connexion, which is an alternative spelling of "connection". In fact, it is strictly the more etymologically correct spelling since it is derived from the Latin connexio. Whilst "connection" has become the more common spelling (presumably by erroneously copying the spelling of other words that sound the same and that do not have an -xio origin), we should not compound the error by not mentioning it at all. --Bermicourt (talk) 13:46, 29 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

When you say primary meaning, just to clarify, it's not a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. There currently isn't one (it is placed at Connexion not Connexion (disambiguation), and similarly, there's not one at Connection.
The dict def is linked to wikt per WP:MOSDAB#Linking to Wiktionary (although WP:DABNOT somewhat contradicts that saying it may be useful - something which I may see if there's consensus to remove as it's really not that common in my experience, and not that useful IMHO), and the two dabs linked in the see also.
How would it help the reader if we include it? i.e. there's no link. If there was a primary topic at Connection there may be some utility (hatnote or put as first item), but currently there isn't. We could put them both as see also hatnotes, would that help do you think as synonyms? (I personally find hatnotes on dabs a bit strange as the see also covers them except for very strong cases.) Merging

[edit]

I realise this was touched upon in the above discussion and on the talk page for discussion but would it be merging with connection? Inflection/inflexion, reflection/reflection etc. It doesn't seem to be considered officially obsolete or archaic according to most searches (and on an unrelated note, Microsoft Word) so considering it shares the same definition as connection and how some of the words i.e. connexionalism share an opposite spelling of connectionalism maybe it should be merged. 151.224.254.144 (talk) 21:39, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dab pages with different spellings are usually kept separate, not least because there is no single topic that they cover. --Bermicourt (talk) 19:16, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
