"Constrained comics movement"?
[edit]Is there a constrained comics movement per se, that people actually talk about? The only place I've seen any such movement officially recognized, other than in this article, is in one LA times article that makes offhand mention of some "constrained comics movement." If that's the only source, however, and this so-called "constrained comics movement" doesn't really exist, then we should think seriously about merging this article into something else. --Politizer (talk) 02:26, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- I think it is being called a "movement" in a loose sense. However, regardless of whether or not there is an official (or even semi-official) movement, the format of a constrained comic still warrants its own article. — Twas Now ( talk • contribs • e-mail ) 06:34, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- To clarify: I see this as a distinction similar to the graphic novel being a comic book format, or the extended play being an album format. — Twas Now ( talk • contribs • e-mail ) 06:39, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
Undiscussed name change
[edit]This article was recently boldly moved from Constrained comics to a singular form, and I'd like to make a note that I oppose the change. Comics isn't the same as a comic (is a name change of this article next?), and the current connotation of the name is awkward and off the mark. This article is surely not about a comedian with inhibitions. It also goes against a host of other naming norms of WP articles, and seems an unfortunate whim to act upon. - Looking at this again, yes, you're right - I don't really know what I was thinking. I've self-reverted. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 21:06, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Calvin and Hobbes
[edit]I removed the Calvin and Hobbes example. It was already marked as speculation, and in my opinion the referenced comic was more a critique of the decline of newspaper-based comics as an artform than it was a comment on constrained comics. Of course, it could be argued that all of today's newspaper comics are now constrained comics, but I don't think that quite fits the spirit of this article. 13, Rue del Percebe
[edit]I wonder if 13, Rue del Percebe qualifies. We would need some authority to declare it "constrained" but it may fulfill the definition. -- Error (talk) 10:48, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
