No links in "Route description", way too much detail, questionable notability. I write about this much for a 100 mile route RD. --Rschen7754 (T C) 08:21, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. Bullcrap, Bullcrap, Bullcrap for the other 3.Mitchazenia :  Chat  Trained for the pen 14:19, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Questionable notability isn't a valid reason to fail a GAN. –Juliancolton | Talk 15:22, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see this article as B-Class at best, and that's a bit of a stretch considering the weak history. I also think this article should be named for the state route designation instead since that's clearly the more notable designation of the two. If it wasn't for that designation, this article wouldn't exist. – TMF 21:11, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Comments:

  1. I noticed this article has had a lot of questions about its notability from it's first GA review and GA reassessment. Along with the major discussion concerning county routes at WT:NYSR, can you prove that this county route has valid notability to have its own article and not be included as part of another article or merged into a list of county routes for Sullivan County?
    NY 284 - that's why.
  2. Request a map of the route for the infobox.
    Done a long time ago.
  3. Get a shield for CR 178.
    Done a long time ago.
  4. "decommissioned" is a possible neologism. Can another word be used?
    Done.
  5. The sentence "By the time 1995 came around, the Sullivan County Highway Department had designated the highway as County Route 149." sounds awkward.
    Done.
  6. "The route went northward": Doesn't CR 149 still exist, so it should be in the present tense.
    Done.
  7. "passing and paralleling Tremper Road, which dead-ends nearby" sounds awkward.
    Done.
  8. In the phrase "passing through the residential surroundings", remove "the".
    Done.
  9. The second paragraph as well as other areas of the route description seems to describe every bend and surrounding along the road. Is it nessecary to include this much detail about the route?
For this dead empty route, yes.
  10. "Shandelee Road begins to bend in different directions", what directions does it bend in?
    Done.
  11. "a local dead-end"? You mean a dead-end road?
    Done.
  12. In the phrase "passes the local Sand Pond", "the local" is unnessecary.
    Done.
  13. Do not use "then" in describing progression of route.
    Done.
  14. "making several changes in direction until turning to the northeast" sounds awkward.
    Done.
  15. Change "it switches monikers" to "the name changes".
    Done.
  16. "with residential homes and commercial buildings now surrounding highway in a more developed condition" sounds awkward.
    Done.
  17. Add a wikilink to New York State Route 17.
    Done.
  18. In last sentence of route description, "the Quickway" sounds colliqual and should be in parentheses.
    Done.
  19. The entire route description is sourced from Yahoo Maps. Can additional sources be added to the route description?
    Done.
  20. The History section is a little short. Can more history about the route be added?
    Not that I know of.
  21. Can some pictures of the road be added to the article?

I am placing the article on hold. Dough4872 (talk) 19:13, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see you have made many of the changes to the article, but I still have two sticking points. You still need to prove the road's notability and I still feel more references are needed in the route description. Dough4872 (talk) 01:17, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Comments above. Also, what else can be sourced - i put in a source for the 17 alignment of 178, but that's really it.Mitch/HC32 13:08, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Since you have addressed all the issues, and since WP:USRD/NT says "...there may be a select few major county highways that are notable enough to have their own article. These include freeways/expressways, roads that are former primary state highways, or roads with other special historical significance.", this article has sufficient reason to exist since it is a former state highway. Therefore, I will pass the article. Dough4872 (talk) 14:13, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
