Don Mueang International Airport
[edit]Can someone clarify onto how frequently is DMK used to refer to the airport. Although a simple google search will give you loads of other things denoting DMK, a search on google news [1] will show that DMK is used in the popular media to denote the political party. In my opinion it is unfair to make this page into a dab. Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 11:08, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- I noticed that someone changed the redirect to another sister article of DMK. If clearly different opinions exist on the best redirect, a DAB page might be a good compromise to avoid an edit war. Before creating the DAB, I also tested a small sample of airport codes, like HKG, SGP, AMS, CDG. A good proportion of them are DAB pages. So the DAB page seemed like a good solution here. DMK is still very new, so the number of references is probably still small. That makes it only more important that it can be found easily in WP. −Woodstone (talk) 14:45, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- After the preceding comment I did a small Google test:
- DMK tamil nadu: 598,000 hits
- DMK bangkok: 200,000 hits
- So they are the same order of magnitude. Also, both are mostly of regional importance. −Woodstone (talk) 14:57, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- After the preceding comment I did a small Google test:
- Sorry, but with all due respect, I beg to differ. Please check the following:
- DMK and party - 722,000
- DMK and India - 997,000
- DMK and airport - 138,000
- DMK and Thailand - 146,000
- DMK and party - 722,000
- I really do think it should get back to the older version where it redirects to Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. Cheers Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 15:52, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- Furthermore, if you use the same search strings on Google News we can see that DMK as denoting the party is very much common in popular media. Cheers Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 15:57, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Still the results show the same order of magnitude for the two meanings, in spite of the fact that DMK (the airport) is only about one year old. Only if one meaning totally swamps all others, a DAB page may be omitted. −Woodstone (talk) 18:10, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but you never said anything about popular usage of DMK denoting as politcal party by popular media. Moreover there are loads of Indian pages on its politics redirecting to DMK which will be an himaliyan task to go change. Anyways, am going to be WP:BOLD and revert the change. Cheers Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 18:39, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- Just as bold. Prominence of the party is at most marginal. Not enough to pre-empt the name. −Woodstone (talk) 18:58, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- Ok! I realise that if I go further I would be just trolling. I will leave it for the wiki community to decide. BTW I really appreciate your AGF attitude. Cheers Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 20:51, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

- Support the DAB page. When index terms are of roughly comparable prominence a disambiguation page is preferable. --MCB (talk) 05:43, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, but they are not comparable isnt it? Have a look at the Google news search of
- DMK Tamil Nadu 339
- DMK Bangkok 2
- I hope you see the point. Cheers Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 08:40, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- Do I take that you agree that in popular media DMK denotes the party more than the airport as per the Google news search? Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 11:53, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
