In the intro to, it is written that Kew was his first work overseas, but there is no date given. At the bottom of the page, it mentions 2005. Was 2005 his first work at Kew? He did in fact begin working in Japan (Niijima International Glass Art Festival) in 1991. Can someone confirm the Kew dates?
- You can look for yourself at http://www.chihuly.com/chrono/chronA.html, which shows many many international exhibitions before Kew, which is described there as his first in the UK. — Laura Scudder ☎ 03:40, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- Even then, the chandelier in the V&A was installed in 2000. So possibly first UK exhibition, but not his first work in the UK. At that point the Kew exibition is just one of a series of international exhibitions and not particularly worth mentioning beyond its inclusion in the exhibition list. -- Solipsist 08:40, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, the solo exhibit at the Louvre seems far more noteworthy ("one of only four American artists to have had a one-person exhibition at the Louvre" [1]), and yet has absolutely no mention right now. — Laura Scudder ☎ 15:01, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Surname
[edit]What is the national origin of his surname? Badagnani 01:11, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
- According to Chihuly [2nd Edition Expanded], his father was of mixed Hungarian, Czech, and Slavic ancestry, so the surname certainly comes from Eastern Europe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Whytecypress (talk • contribs) 16:46, 30 September 2008

Proposed split for list of Chihuly works in permanent collections
[edit]I'd like to propose this list of Dale Chihuly's works in permanent collections be split out into its own (list) article. The Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lists of works page says, "a separate article for a list of that person's works ... is warranted if the list becomes so long that its inclusion in the main article would be unsuitable." I think this list in Chihuly's articles warrants a split. Thoughts? extabulis (talk) 18:52, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
Also, any thoughts on the new article title/scope would be appreciated. Should it be titled something like List of works by Dale Chihuly, and potentially incorporate works not mentioned in the current list, or should it be titled List of works by Dale Chihuly in permanent collections and only include the current list? extabulis (talk) 19:06, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
- Split. Good idea because it otherwise dominates the article with an enormous list. On the second question, I like the first because it allows for extension/expansion. "Permanent collections" can be a subset of the article. Later there may be Private collections, Commissions and the rest. Imho Manytexts (talk) 05:51, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- Split This is a good idea, and I favor the more inclusive criteria, as long as every entry is referenced to an independent source. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 05:56, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
