Trying to get a page of Derech Etz Chaim, the school I work for on Wikipedia, It has been deleted once before, I want it to be factual and not look like an advertisement, which is why I was told it was deleted the first time. If people could help me with my page so I could transfer it over to Wikipedia/Derech Etz Chaim

Thank you BetzalelGersten (talk) 20:12, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Advertising

[edit]

Howdy Betzalel, Yes this reads like an advertisement. A few WP policies you should read include:

All of this points to why the article may have been deleted last time and is currenly a good candidate for deletion. Please consider the following questions and they may help you write a better article:

  • What makes DEC unique? Can you find a reliable source that says this?
  • If you were not working for DEC, a student of DEC, or an alumnus, what would you be able to find out about DEC from independant sources (newspaper articles, review sites, books, etc)?

Once you have answered these questions take a stab at writing a new article only using the information you can now source. This will result in an article not likely to be deleted.

To help you out, try the following sources: Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL. Please let me know if you need any help. Joe407 (talk) 16:23, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Regions they visit

[edit]

The text says they visit Golan, which means they are visiting occupied territories. The way Shuki has put it implys that Golan is Israel.[1] The way I put it is more neutral according to worldview:[2]. The United Nations [3] United States [4] European Union[5] United Kingdom[6] Arab League[7] say its occupied, not part of Israel. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 18:00, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The wording you introduced is wrong. It implies that the regions listed are occupied. They are not. I am changing it to an appropriate and grammatically correct sentence. Breein1007 (talk) 18:07, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
How does how I put it:[8] imply that the regions are occupied when it said "number of trips around Israel and" ? --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 18:11, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am guessing that your understanding of the intricacies of English grammar aren't excellent, and this is preventing you from noticing how easy it is to mix up the meaning of a sentence by using the wrong words or putting a comma in the wrong place. You had occupied territories followed by a list of regions. This gives the meaning that the list is of regions in the occupied territories. Like I said, that is incorrect. The Golan is an occupied territory. Fixing article to that effect. Vexorg (talk) 02:52, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You should save this for here. Regards. --Shuki (talk) 20:55, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

PROD

[edit]

The notability guideline for schools is WP:ORG. There is currently no accepted guideline for schools but Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Common_outcomes#Education seems to indicate this school would hold up in an AfD. Thoughts? Joe407 (talk) 19:43, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's hard to predict the outcome of an AfD, but I see no indication this organization meets the requirements of WP:ORG. Jayjg (talk) 00:57, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
