[edit]Fixed a few inaccuracies and rewrote the POV section on the 2002 election. Dessie Ellis did not "lose" the seat to Róisín Shortall, as he did not hold it. Furthermore, it made it sound as though some injustice had been done because he had more first-preference votes than Shortall, but that's simply the way transfers work. (See Irish presidential election, 1990 for a great example!).--Dub8lad1 16:38, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Preceded by
[edit]It says that Ellis was "preceded by" Noel Ahern, however Ahern did not run in the 2011 election. Pat Carey of FF did run and lost the seat which he held since 1997. --Domer48'fenian' 13:54, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- Fair point. Fianna Fail lost two seats and there were two new TDs elected, so it's not for us to say which of them succeeded Ahern and which of them succeeded Carey. Succession boxes seem problematic in the case of multi member seats. I'd favour just removing them altogether but I'll ask around as this should be done consistently across the board. - Sometimes it clear in a multi member constituency when only 1 seat changes hands. However, as has been pointed out, in this case 2 new TDs were elected, so you can't really say who succeeded who. I wouldn't before in favour of removing them altogether but you could start a discussion on Wikiproject Ireland to see what the general opinion on them is. Snappy (talk) 15:08, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
- I've opened a discussion here. Valenciano (talk) 16:31, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
- In this edit, I have just expanded the succession box to show all Dublin NW TDs who preceded him, and all who serve with him. This issue applies to many other TDs, so I suggest keeping the discussion centralised in the thread opened by Valenciano at WT:IE. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 18:59, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
