Church of Christ
[edit]The use of the term Church of Christ in relation to the Mormons is entirely misleading. Church of Christ more generally refers to a non-denominational group of Christian churches unconnected to the Mormons.
- The Church of Christ was the title of the first Mormon church organized in 1830. See Church of Christ (Mormonism). COGDEN June 28, 2005 21:30 (UTC)
Misspelled?
[edit]Isn't this article title misspelled? According to my dictionary, "fulness" is spelled with two l's. i.e. "fullness". "Fulness" is an acceptable alternative, but it looks awkward to me. Anyone else? — Frecklefoot | Talk June 28, 2005 16:42 (UTC)
- The article is indeed spelled archaically. The "fulness" spelling was taken from the spelling in the King James Version, which is also the way it is spelled in Mormon scripture. I think that keeping the archaic spelling, with a redirect, might be a good idea, because the phrase's KJV translation is equally archaic as its spelling. Using modern English, a much better translation of the phrase would be something like "the program for the fulfillment of the ages." COGDEN June 28, 2005 21:30 (UTC)
Mormon usage correction
[edit]Don't Mormons believe that the restoration of their church was *part of* the dispensation of the fulness of times? The article states it is the era *after which* the church was restored. Probably more accurate to say the era *in which...*, or the era *that began when...*, the church was believed to have been restored, etc.
