I like DonationCoder

[edit]

I like DonationCoder so much, I donated! Seriously.  :) Look for Rover in the forums and say Hi.

I don't know if this has been mentioned or maybe if it is correct, but I am under the impression that the term fanatics maybe a bit too harsh or derogatory. Can someone clarify?

"fanatics" also stuck me as a rather strong word to use. I think "fans" might be a better term. I realise that fan is / was originally a contraction of fanatic, but I think that the cultural meaning of the two terms has now diverged.

According to dictionary.com the words are defined as follows...

Fanatic - a person with an extreme and uncritical enthusiasm or zeal, (as in religion or politics.)

Fan - an enthusiastic devotee, follower, or admirer of a sport, pastime, celebrity.

I agree that "fanatics" is a loaded word, so I indeed went ahead and changed it to "fans". TaoPhoenix (talk) 08:01, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notable facets of DonationCoder

[edit]
  • History - Started when? By whom? Why?
  • Coding Snacks - some stats would be good!
  • Most famous 'products' - FARR, ScreenshotCaptor?
  • NANY - New Applications for the New Year (has been running for 3? years, and produced many new, useful, and interesting pieces of software).
  • Cody - Mascot, Comics (WTF Cody), Toy Traveller (bonding the community)
  • Expand upon aims - is it really to fund software development via donations, or is the social / community side of things now more dominant?
