Mention in Dispatches

[edit]

He received a "Mention in Dispatches" for his work on board HMS Kent_(54) after she was torpedoed ("fearless bearing and steadfastness ... led personally for three consecutive days the volunteer casualty clearing parties, whose gruesome task cannot adequately be described"). The papers are in the National Archives so I cannot add this original research; however if anyone has access to a secondary source please do add. Springnuts (talk) 21:12, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
