Re: "its most important boulevard is also called Drumul Taberei," can't we say "It derives its name from its most important boulevard, also called Drumul Taberei"? Or is that not the case? - Jmabel | Talk 06:28, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, we can. :-) bogdan 08:55, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
SO... my next question: "…situated around a park…". That should properly mean that the neighorhood surrounds the park. Does it? Or was this just "around" in the sense of "near" (like pe lîngă, sometimes translated colloquially as "around"). If we just mean "near", we should say "near". (Two questions in such a short article…) -- Jmabel | Talk 06:28, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
My answers (also in the article) - the park was built to serve as the center of the neighborhood and to form the heart of the area. It is completely surrounded by the neighborhood. The name of the area comes from the name of an old road, roughly the same with today's Drumul Taberei Ave. up to Moghioros park (it then went south under today's blocks and exited the city to Domneşti). The etymology of Drumul Taberei as the name of the old road is quite uncertain - I've heard it coming from the nomad gypsy setting camp near to the marshes, others say it comes from a provisional military camp set here during the 1877 war. --Xanthar 00:10, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- Y'know: funny, just an hour ago I had looked at a map and seen where the park was. - Jmabel | Talk 06:36, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
The "reference" link
[edit]Xanthar, you give [1] as a reference. Its a very decent (if slightly ad-heavy) site, but I don't see so much as a mention of Drumul Tabarei on the linked page. - Jmabel | Talk 06:43, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
Page seems to have been modified. Previously it contained a description of areas in Bucharest. Have removed the reference as inconclusive. --Xanthar 17:55, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
