Additions to Politics section

Hello, I am working to bring the article up to date and ensure its accuracy. I have some new content to suggest adding to the Politics section:

In May 2016, Buchan and his wife donated $898,000 to Trump Victory, the highest permitted amount by federal campaign laws.[1] They were the first to give $1 million to the Donald Trump 2016 presidential campaign and have subsequently donated and raised millions more, while remaining among the top two donors for years.[2]
According to campaign finance records, Buchan donated over $940,000 to the Donald Trump 2020 presidential campaign.[3]
In 2021, he was named as National Finance Chair of the Republican National Committee.[3]
In April 2024, Buchan led a Palm Beach fundraising dinner that raised $50.5 million for the Trump campaign.[2]
In June 2024, Buchan organized the first fundraiser for Donald Trump's presidential campaign outside the US, thought to have raised up to $3 million.[4][5] According to the Financial Times, Buchan noted that the Trump campaign chose to hold the event in London due to the “special relationship” between the US and UK.[4] The fundraiser had over 100 in attendance, including Donald Trump Jr.[6]

Updates for Global finance career and Personal life

Hi, in a continued effort to update the page, I am suggesting the following edits:

  • At the end of Global finance career, please add:
In 2024, Buchan and his wife Hannah built about 1,500 apartments in the South through their business.[1]
  • In the first paragraph of Personal life, please rephrase the second and fourth sentences to more accurately reflect the sources, as follows:
He owns farms in North Carolina and New York where he grows truffles and over 100 varieties of tomatoes and vegetables, and raises horses.[1][2]
Buchan's primary residence is in Palm Beach, Florida and he has a horse farm in Upstate New York and an apartment on Fifth Avenue in New York City.[2][1]

I was asked to take a peek. These edits look OK but I was not able to quickly check that were sourced because the refs are both are paywalled.North8000 (talk) 19:16, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The initial portion of the second source, to which I have access, supports the 'residence' sentence in full, and 'raises horses'. This alternate path to the first source supports the rest, except with no mention of tomatoes. —ADavidB 05:31, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I did the first requested change. I've worked with COI editors before and have some advice for you. Which is to very simply and explicitly specify the proposed change. Like "replace xxxx with yyyy". With your "rephrase" wording you neglected to do that. So then somebody has to try to figure out exactly what to do.....more work and decision-making is required making it harder for you to get somebody to do it. North8000 Thank you. Apologies if the language I used in the second bullet point wasn't clear.
The current Personal life section reads:
Buchan and his wife Hannah have three children. The family owns and manages farms that grow over 100 varieties of heirloom tomatoes and vegetables and raise horses. The Buchans run a farm stand, develop new varieties of tomatoes, and donate their produce to charities. His primary residence is in Palm Beach, Florida.
Please replace the two bolded sentences above with the following:
He owns farms in North Carolina and New York where he grows truffles and over 100 varieties of tomatoes and vegetables, and raises horses.[1][2]
Buchan's primary residence is in Palm Beach, Florida and he has a horse farm in Upstate New York and an apartment on Fifth Avenue in New York City.[2][1]
