January edits
[edit]Just a quick not to say that I have removed many of the tourist links, and commercial external links. Wikipedia is not a tourist guidebook nor a promoter of commercial operations. Check out What Wikipedia is not. Maps, and links to maps are redundant as they are linked from the infobox. Also image size forcing has been removed per the MOS. Personally I would replace the image in the infobox with an image of the town proper and not a touristy image that contributes nothing to the identity of the town—it could have been taken virtually anywhere in the Irish countryside. ww2censor (talk)
I would like to put an image in at the beginninf of article, beside the contents box (before location). However, yet whenever i do, the article layout ruins.
Also theres too big a gap which cannot be removed under location. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.151.109.222 (talk) 22:10, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Updates
[edit]The image in the infobox is now an image representing the identity of the town, the village centre. -Hsdnalerio —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.159.232.209 (talk) 01:54, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Please note my summery on the page edit when removing the view from the infobox - that image is supposed to be a town crest not a view. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 01:59, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Railway and Roads
[edit]There's very little information on the internet regarding Duncormick railway station, whilst i've found articles mentioning the station in Dail Eireann archive, it would be helpful if somebody could add further knowledge to this article regarding this subject. Whilst i understand the station served Bridgetown and Wellington bridge, it may have also served other rural communities, any further information would be much appreciated. Thanks
Also, many rural roads are connected to Duncormick, if anybody knows there exact name please add them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by hsdnalerio (talk • contribs) 23:58, January 29, 2008
Places to see
[edit]There's no mention here of the monastery that Duncormick used to have once, along the Killag road. All I know is that it was burnt down, there was an underground passageway leading somewhere, and that it's the Power's burial place. You'd have to ask Ibar Power (the owner of the land) for more info, if there's none available written anywhere... He lives at the entrance of Sea Lane (the one leading to the burrow), if anyone's interested. I'd to it myself, but I'm currently overseas... Jack the Stripper (talk) 01:50, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
I would do it too except im abroad during term time, i live on Seafield Lane, was that what you meant when you said 'sea lane?'.

Surrounding Area
[edit]Since Duncormick is not just used for the name of the village but also for the rural area surrounding it, should more information be added regarding the rural community outside the village? I'm unsure whether the census refers to the village itself, or also that of the surrounding community, however, since the census is reasonably high and the village is small, i'm guessing it refers to the entire area of duncormick including village and community. Infact i've just answered my own question since the census definately includes the aurrounding community since it's quite high. If anybody could add further information that would be great.Hsdnalerio (talk) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.159.22.19 (talk) 14:30, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Summary
[edit]Hi. In recent days I have significantly summarised this article.
In some cases this has been to remove uncited and inappropriate guidebook editorial (for example the flowery text about locals having "Guinness in one hand, crisps in the other" while "Time passes slowly as people dwell deep into conversation"). Per WP:NOTGUIDEBOOK and WP:TONE. Or has been to remove uncited and vanity text (about "the number one Farmer in the parish"). Per WP:HOAX. In other cases it has been to address promotional text (like the advertising style wording about a pub or car dealer or supermarket "home baked cakes"). Per WP:NOTDIRECTORY and WP:NOTPROMO. Other excessive weasel words and unattributed opinions have been removed (like "excellent facilities", "beauty, clean air and plenty of space", "magnificent triumph", "glowing community spirit", "magnificent picnic area", "spectacular views", etc). Per WP:PEACOCK and WP:ATTRIBUTEPOV. I have also removed some of the "nearby attractions" (many of which are in other places - like Wexford, New Ross or Enniscorthy - and therefore better dealt with in the articles on these places). Per WP:OFFTOPIC and WP:RELEVANCE.
I have retained some of the clean-up tags (as some uncited editorial in the tourism section remains). And have also tagged some content in the education section. As, ideally, this section would also be improved. (Right now it pretty much says that the children of the parish attend various schools around Wexford. And then effectively lists every school in a 30km radius. This amounts to an uncited and indiscriminate list - without established/verifiable inclusion criteria. Unless this can be addressed, this list [effectively a "list of schools within 30km of Duncormick"] should perhaps be removed).
I've separately bulked-up the references in a few areas.
While they are hopefully clear and self-evident (relative to the specific policies/norms), I am adding this note mainly to explain my edits. And to provide a thread for comments. If needed.
Cheers. Guliolopez (talk) 17:35, 16 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hi. It's been a few months since my note above. Unless there are other thoughts, I am going to address the remaining issues myself/directly. (The "schools within 30km" list - per WP:LISTV#INC. The "fields are great for hurling" text - per WP:OR. Etc.) Guliolopez (talk) 02:40, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
- Resolved - Given that it's been more than two months since my first note above, and as I hadn't heard any other input, I have addressed some of the issues noted. Including removing some of the OR/editorial (about fields being great places for kids to puck a ball[1]), or the seemingly indiscriminate lists of schools and tourist attractions in South Wexford (including the apparent "list of every school from New Ross to Rosslare"[2]). I have removed the related cleanup hatnotes, and am closing this thread. Guliolopez (talk) 00:34, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
