Use "South-East-Asia" as the term referring to the region in the article?

The term "East Indies" is no longer in current use - so its repeated use within the article to refer to the region seems a bit anachronistic to me. Wouldn't it make more sense to use the currently used term that refers to the (I think contigous?) region - South East Asia ?
