1985 or 1986

[edit]

I'm not sure about the year of release fixed to 1986 for two reason. The first is this cover [1] with a 1985 date. The second is that Racer X album Street Lethal was apparently issued on January 1st, 1986 and has serial number SH 1023, higher than SH 1021 of Edge of Insanity, which would put the latter's date of release at the end of 1985. What do you think? Lewismaster (talk) 13:55, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It's a tricky one, and I've gone back and forth on it for a decade. The M.A.R.S. Project: Driver album was released in 1986, right after this debut, so it gets fuzzy. For all we know, Edge of Insanity could've been released right at the tail end of 1985, or the start of 1986. As for the back cover, I've seen plenty of errors on those across albums—a stamp might say one year, but the actual release was another. What we do have, however, is MacAlpine's official site saying 1986. What year is listed by the Kerrang and Collector's Guide to Heavy Metal reviews? Kerrang! review was published in May 1986, but it was about the European edition by Roadrunner Records. Popoff lists it as 1986 based on a Canadian Banzai Records edition. I guess that January 1986 is the best approximation to the date of release that we can get. Lewismaster (talk) 17:07, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
