Are William Black (soldier) and Edward Black (soldier) the same person?
[edit]From the information provided at William Black (soldier) and here at Edward Black (soldier), I wonder if they are, in fact, describing the same person (same birth/death dates, both drummers with the 21st Indiana Infantry regiment, etc.).
For Edward it says he has a twin brother named "Edwin" who died in 1854 (~1 year old), but that he (Edward) was buried, after his death in 1872, alongside his brother "William".
For William, it says he was identified in the 1860 census as "Edward", but in a footnote it further states that he was erroneously identified as "William" in a publication of Civil War photographs.
There are many other inconsistencies and contradictions between the two articles.
This could use someone familiar with civil war era records to sort out. — Archer1234 (t·c) 20:39, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
