StudioCanal owns some Embassy films

[edit]

Where's the source to that? I read sources that MGM/Orion acquired the films by Embassy Pictures and Dino de Laurentiis among others from PolyGram Filmed Entertainment in January 1999. I also went to MGM's site and Fox Connect's site to look up titles by Embassy Pictures and a good amount were listed.

Copyright and distribution rights are two entirely different things. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer only holds the North American home video rights to Embassy's film library. StudioCanal owns the copyrights outright because they bought out Paravision International which had acquired the rights when DEG went bankrupt and sold off its assets.
