Does this really need its own article? We are just repeating information from the main article, and all of this can be condensed into its own section there. Pinging @Sergecross73:, as he also works on Sonic series games, for his opinion. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 20:00, 30 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I created this article because I believe it satisfies the GNG. There is a lot of independent coverage of this (including some reception), and we have articles for expansion packs like The Ballad of Gay Tony. I also fear that the Sonic Forces page will clog up with information on Episode Shadow's story, and Shun Nakamura talked about why they created it in an interview (I also did try to make sure I didn't copy anything from the Forces page; I don't think I did). That being said though, I wouldn't really oppose a merge if it was done properly. I think we'd have to wait if this becomes a big part of the reviews or gets its own reviews (it does have its own Metacritic page). JOEBRO64 20:04, 30 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm aware, however those expansions were released after the base game's launch and were substantial in content. I just feel like you could condense everything here and create a subsection back on the main article with 95% of the same info in a single paragraph. Since this is free, releasing alongside Forces on launch day, and only features three levels, most people who play the game will probably get this, and will include it as part of the overall game's reception, which wasn't the case on the expansions for GTA4 and Witcher 3. The sources used it also just call it DLC and not an expansion (which it really can't be anyway due to its short length). ~ Dissident93 (talk) 20:14, 30 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It strikes me as WP:TOOSOON for this, with like half of the article redundant, or actually about, Forces. Sergecross73 msg me 21:28, 30 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Which is my main issue with it. If this was on the main article, half of the prose here wouldn't be needed as it's already explained there, allowing all of the Shadows-specific info to be condensed and thus a better fit for a subsection. The issues remind me of the Sonic 2 HD article we merged into Sonic 2 a few weeks ago. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 21:38, 30 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Here's a start if we merge:
Episode Shadow is a free expansion pack for Sonic Forces that launched alongside the game. The story acts as a prequel to the main game and focuses on Shadow the Hedgehog and his friends Rouge the Bat and E-123 Omega, and also explores the origins of Infinite. Players control Shadow, who handles similarly to Modern Sonic but has unique abilities such as the ability to perform a quick chain of homing attacks in rapid succession. The pack adds thirteen extra levels to the game; three are original, while ten are redesigned versions of Modern Sonic stages. According to Shun Nakamura, Sonic Team created Episode Shadow to help the game appeal to fans of older games such as Sonic Adventure. Upon its announcement, several gaming journalists noted that Episode Shadow was the first time Shadow was a playable character in a mainline Sonic game for several years, and Game Informer wrote that it was much more difficult than the main game.

I think this is pretty much what I had in mind. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 01:14, 31 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I've merged to the main article and closed this discussion. If it becomes independently notable we can split it later. JOEBRO64 11:44, 31 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
