[edit]"A supporter of communism" sounds like a possible overstatement. I was aware that Goldfinger was a sympathiser of Marxism, but a little in the way of supporting data would be welcome. Hasdrubal 22:47, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- He did design the Communist Party headquarters in London after the war. Some more references would be useful, but it doesnt necessarily sound like an overstatement to me, if a bit vague. Many British left wing intellectuals at that time were members of the communist party, although not necessarily supporting the Soviet Union. Justinc 13:01, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
The guidebook to 2 Willow Road states that Goldfinger also designed a shop for S. Weiss, a shopfront for Abbat's Toy Shop, schools in Hammersmith and Putney, a small block of flats near Regent's Park, a house for Humphrey Waterfield, some industrial buildings, a small office building on Albemarle Street and some later private houses. Does anyone know anything about these, or know where info or photos are available?FrFintonStack 03:52, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- I did a quick search and found some photos (c. 1936) of S. Weiss shop (a lingerie retailer) in Golders Green Road in the RIBA photo collection - see here and here for example. There is also a short description of the building - "The Weiss shop. 2 and 2a Golders Green Road by Ernö Goldfinger 1935. Three storey, curved right end, glass and stucco in modernist style but with surprising red tiled roof. The Weiss shop was well known for ladies undergarments. Today it is a Building Society." in a document about Golders Green conservation area at http://www.barnet.gov.uk/golders-green.pdf Paul W 17:15, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
