Notability?

[edit]

This article needs to establish the notability of this society. The relevant notability policy here is WP:CLUB. The first criterium seems fine, this society clearly acts at an national level. The article how at this point does not do anything to satisfy the second criterium:

Information about the organization and its activities can be verified by multiple, third-party, independent, reliable sources. (In other words, they must satisfy the WP:ORG#Primary criteria, above.)

A brief search has revealed nothing other than confirmation of its existence. In particular it is unclear what exactly the is organization does or how it is organized.TimothyRias (talk) 11:02, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The notability of the Estonian Physical Society appears evident to me via its affiliation with the Estonian Academy of Sciences and the European Physical Society Member Society. See refs(Msrasnw (talk) 14:55, 17 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]
So, what criterion of WP:N or more specifically WP:CLUB would those affiliations satisfy? Can think of plenty of organizations that would satisfy similar conditions, but which are not at all notable. Hence that policy requires, that there are third party sources that discuss the organization and its activities.TimothyRias (talk) 15:11, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My reading is that it meets "both of the following standards" : "The scope of their activities is national" (YES) AND "information about the organization and its activities can be verified by multiple, third-party, independent, reliable sources." (I ALSO THINK YES) The European Physical Society documents the EFS on their site. The Estonian Academy of Sciences documents its recognition on their site - and via its journal where the EFS prizes are announced. Also the Estonian media - reports their activities eg: Estonian Public Broadcasting ERR reporting the award of a prize from the EAS to the EFS in 2006 [1] This sort of thing would seem not appropriate to put in the article but is it the kind of thing you think is needed for establishing notability? I suggest you read WP:ORG#Primary criteria, in particular the parts about "depth of coverage" and "independence". TimothyRias (talk) 16:25, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your suggestions for my reading (Msrasnw (talk) 16:45, 17 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]
