Evonium and Irvine?

[edit]

Since Hector Boece located Evonium in the Lochaber area it's highly unlikely to have been at Irvine, Ayrshire. Also, as far as I can know there is no historical association with the Evonium legend and Irvine. --Irvineite (talk) 14:43, 18 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You may in fact be right but it is not our job to weigh up what is true and what isn't. The story was reported nationally by the senior writer of The Scotsman in the Scotland on Sunday newspaper, and I do remember it in the local newspapers at the time so it is notable for inclusion here. I also think the wiki entry makes it clear that Martin doesn't necessarily believe Evonium existed but merely mentioned that Irvine should be considered in any debate about its possible existence and location. Which I think is fair enough. The first part of the entry is a little tabloidy and poorly written though, but so is the whole article which is also too long for a small port town of less than 50,000 people. 176.251.64.239 (talk) 02:55, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
