etymology

[edit]

Is "fizzle" a portmanteau of "fission" and "sizzle"? Benlisquare (talk) 02:49, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See wikt:fizzle. Not exactly a backronym but a backmanteau? - ¡Ouch! (hurt me / more pain) 07:23, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dragonfire incident

[edit]

This is only indirectly related to a nuclear fizzle. IMO, it belongs elsewhere, into an article more closely related to terrorism. - ¡Ouch! (hurt me / more pain) 06:58, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Because it's mostly about the USA? RomanK79 (talk) 00:11, 20 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Nuclear fission tests considered to be fizzles

[edit]
Upshot–Knothole Ruth
Testing a uranium hydride bomb. The test failed to declassify the site (erase evidence) as it left the bottom third of the 300-foot (91 m) shot tower still standing.
