Thesis Title

[edit]

We have given Adams's thesis title as

"On special sequences of self-obstruction invariants" .

This follows the two external links: O'Connor-Robertson and the Math. Genealogy Project. Nevertheless I think the correct title is that given in the London Math. Soc. obituary (James-Wall):

"On spectral sequences and self-obstruction invariants"

which makes much better sense and corresponds with the description of the contents of the thesis given in that obituary article.

Any views?

I believe On spectral sequences and self-obstruction invariants. Charles Matthews 21:41, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, I should have caught that! Yes, of course, "spectral sequence" makes enormously more sense in this context -- after all, the "Adams spectral sequence" is named after him. Perils of copy-and-paste.... Thanks for the correction. Turgidson 04:56, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
